Scarborough End of October

Here we are again in Scarborough and we managed to find yet more paths that we hadn't explored before and also I did something that I never imagined I would do at the age of 70 and with a knee that often doesn't feel like doing anything at all.

We walked down to the seafront from the railway staion and had coffee and toasted teacakes in a cafe overlooking the sea-I love the big ice cream sculpture.

The sun was on the top of the cliff and all of the hotels up there seem to have had makeovers recently

The sun just caught the lens on this picture which shows the old overhead railway that used to carry people down to the beach--this was taken from a bridge over the little railway that we hadn't been over before

View of the castle from the bridge

We followed the path up from the bridge and went through some beautiful autumn shades of trees and shrubs. At the top was a carpark and the fireman were doing exercises.

At the side of the carpark was another path going downwards so we decided to see what that had to offer. Pity we didn't get more pictures as this path had so many beautiful trees and plants all in their finest autumn colours--we were too busy enjoying them and forgot about the camera

Here we are at the bottom of the path and it joined the railway again with another little bridge to cross.

Here we joined the outdoor arena and it was good to see it from the other side

The train was coming along the track so Vic turned to take pictures of it-I think the driver liked being in the picture

Only a few people on the train this way but it was full going down to beach

Lovely berries on the trees

In the background is where they fasten the stage when there is a show. Before they built this new arena there was an old amphitheatre on this spot and the stage was in the middle of the lake-now it is all state of the art but I would love to go to a show when they start up again in Spring.

This chute has been renovated and I would love to have had a go on it but Vic wasn't keen. I'm pleased that we didn't as we did something else as you will see later.

This is a picture of the chute as it is today

The lake

The centre of the picture is leading to where the arena stage is

Well here it is my great adventure in Peasholme park--we went on a dragon pedalo ! It took a bit of time to get me into it and Vic had to do the pedalling while I steered but we managed to go three times around the large lake and it was terrific. Getting out was also a bit of a struggle and I had wondered how my knee would be but I am pleased to say I was still able to carry on walking

It was so exciting for me to go on this boat ride as I have never been in a pedalo ever but always wanted to

As we came out of the park I realised that there was path we had never explored and it went high up above the park so that we could look down onto the lake where we had just been on the pedalo.

This was a close up showing the road in the background-you can't see it at all when you are in the park.

No more photographs now as we were getting hungry so walked back into town and had a lovely meal in The Barracuda befor getting the train back home.

Hope you enjoyed the day out with us
