Open front Card

I saw one of these in Von's group but it was sent by a secret postie so I don't know who made it. This is my take on it as it wasn't exactly like mine

These are the ones I have made so far-they can be any size or any shape it is up to you

Take a piece of card and fold it in half the fold the front in half again

Now you are going to cut off some of the card at the centre fold. It is up to you how much you cut off-the more you cut off the bigger the open front will be-I measured one and half centimetres from the fold and cut off there so my opening is 3 centimetres

Measure the piece of card that was cut off and cut out two pieces of paper or card that you want to use as the front colours-if you only use paper then stick it onto card first to strengthen the front of the finished card. Cover the piece you cut off and the over half of the front of the card as well so that they match

Before you do any more fasten a piece of cellophane with some pegs to the centre stick of the back of the card--this will stop anything sticking to it when you are adding your front embellishments

Now line up the loose piece to the edge of the card and peg it down and also peg down the other piece of the front of the card.

Now you are ready to fasten the two halves together with whatever you chose. It has been something big enough to overlap the gap and be stuck to both pieces of the front to join them together.

Leave it to dry with the pegs in place

When it is dry remove the piece of cellophane carefully as it may have some glue on it if you have used glue. I have tried glue and double sided tape and both work well.

Now add a matching piece of paper or card to our card back

Test how strong your card feels and if it doesn't feel strong enough then add something to make it stronger. I have added simple cross pieces to this one that could be decorated with a greeting or something like that.

Add anything else you like to the inside and the outside of the cards. I have added a verse to one and some flowers and a greeting to another one.

Make it your own and I would love to see what you have made using this tutorial.

Please ask if you don't understand any of it.
