We set off quite late for a bus trip as the weather had been awful first thing but got sunnier as the morning progressed. We can get to Hornsea by bus from Bridlington but can't get back again so Vic got a day ticket that allows him to travel anywhere on the East Riding buses up until midnight that day. I can go free so it is a great way to travel quite a long way for £11.

Millionaires bus as there was just Vic and me and on other chap down at the front of the bus and he got off quite soon. The buses they use for on these journeys are really nice ones.

It wasn't raining though it looks as though it was on the window

Hornsea Church where we got off the bus

Church grounds full of Spring flowers

Another view of the church

Down on the seafront and it was really blustery-few people around

One of the nice things to see along the seafront-not me -the sculptured wall

We got on the bus from Hornsea to Beverley after lunch and this is St Mary's church just near to the bus station. Beverley Minster is nearer to the train station if you ever want to go to see that--well worth a visit as is this church.

More of St Mary's

A plaque on the wall of the church

Many of the heads on the entrance walls inspired the pictures for Alice's Adventures and there was one of the white rabbit that is just like the one we all see in the illustrations of the stories--we couldn't find it this time so maybe it has been stolen or taken inside the church for safe keeping

I stood looking up at these beautiful pillars and almost fell over as the clouds were moving so quickly it seemed as though the building was toppling over

This is a part of Beverley we haven't explored at all but we will be going again for sure as there are some fine eating places just through the bar--the hole in the wall

Through the bar and looking back at it

An old pub--the traffic around this area is horrendous so we couldn't cross the road to get a better look

Some lovely old building but need to cross over the road for the best pictures of them--next time we will start off on the other side to make sure

This is a really nice place for soup, sandwiches, cakes etc. It is really an Antique Business that covers 5 floors but tucked away at the back is Straddlles coffee shop. In summer you can sit outside in the beautiful garden but we were happy to be in the lovely warm room. The ladies there are always very friendly and obliging and the food is delicious.

Right that's it folks-we fitted in some shopping as well as the sight seeing and then off to get the bus from Beverley to Bridlington. All the bus journeys are beautiful and take in some pretty villages that we keep saying we will explore but never seem to find enough time to fit them in.

Hope you enjoyed the afternoon out with us.
