Flamborough Scarecrows We walked from Bridlington to Flamborough taking in Danes Dyke and a few paths there that we hadn't been along before. A lot of the villages in our area have scarecrow competitions at this time of year but we hadn't been to one before. Flamborough is quite a large village now with new estate mingling with the old fishermen's cottages. We saw about a third of the scarecrows as they are so spread out and hidden in allsorts of places. The brochure saying what they are and where they are is £3 and the proceeds go to the RNLI for our area. The theme was Heroes and Villains
We saw these puff balls in the corner of the cricket pitch in Bridlington and the one at the front was about 2 feet across. Vic said he thinks you can eat them but I wouldn't have tried.
One of the greens on the Sewerby golf course right on the edge of the cliff.
Sewerby Golf Club-they used to have lovely meals there but not sure if it just private for members now as it has all been taken over by a rich American
This is a terrific picture that Vic took and the smaller version doesn't do it justice--the hoverflies and butterflies love anything yellow.
Where is he taking me now??
Some nice welcome shade
Peaceful path up the side of a field-lovely bird sounds here
First scarecrow we saw on our trail
Not sure who this one was supposed to be
Anything for a sit down that's me
Clock and Gargoyles on the Flamborough Church Tower
St Francis in the church graveyard
Dick Turpin-horse behind the fence
Two little girls had made this scarecrow and they were so excited and wanted us to cross the road to see it
A nice place to eat if you are ever in Flamborough
This scarecrow was outside the community hall and in there you can get a 2 course meal for £2.50 and it smelt really nice
This is the one we liked best of the ones we saw--it is Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean
A drunken looking Bat Man
Captain Hook and the crocodile
Florence Nightingale-she is related to our next door neighbour who is in his nineties and so was she when she died so it must run in the family
This made us laugh and also we bought the two small jars of home made jam -they were 50p each and you pushed the money through the letter box-you can see Vic's reflection in the window
In the Methodist Church entrance
Spider Man climbing the cottages as we waited for the bus home. A very nice day out-hope you enjoyed it with us.
