We decided on the spur of the moment to go on the early train to Scarborough. It was a miserable foggy, cold and damp day but we really enjoyed it as we hadn't walked along that part of Scarborough through the Italian Gardens. Our walk here is only a small part of the many paths you can take through the gardens and I am sure we will be going back soon as there are thousands of daffodils just waiting for a sunny day so that they can bloom.

Walked down the back streets from the station and along the prom until we got to the clock tower which was to be our starting point.

This statue and pond were the first things that we saw in the gardens-looks like the one in Peasholme Park at the North end of Scarborough--they must have got a job lot!

The date on this is 1914 but they must have started the gardens well before that I imagine-will have to look up the exact date

Lovely beach huts would like to see inside as they are quite large

Poor old thing in the mist

A cafe that must only be open in summer

Looking down from near the cafe

In the distance is an old bathing pool carved from the rocks--now closed

Beach huts again-well you know me and beach huts!

--and again

Not sure what this would have been in Victorian times--would love look inside or see it restored.

Almost at the Spa-you can just see where we had lunch with Max and Pete-the white glass building

The tram that takes you to the prom if you can't climb all the steps

Bridge over the busy road that will take us back into town

'Hurry up it's coffee time'. We had coffee and teacakes in Milos then bought lots of things and came home quite tired. We had bought a chinese ready meal for 2 so no cooking.

A great day out in spite of the weather.

Hope you enjoyed it with us
